Frilly Lilly and Petit Love have officially collaborated for a maternity clothes collection! We’re so proud to partner with a local, proudly South African fashion brand. We believe in implementing every piece of feedback we hear from our customers, and so this range was the natural next step.

The Maternity Clothes Collection

Our emphasis, as always, was practicality, affordability and quality, and Amina, owner of Frilly Lilly, strongly agrees. She says, “as a mom of three, I know that pregnant moms not only want to be comfortable in what we wear, but also to feel beautiful and feminine at the same time.”

Nelia Kache, a Petit Love team member, is delighted with the maternity clothes collection. She excitedly explains, “my favourite item from Petit Love’s maternity clothing is the Petal Shift Dress. I love this dress because it is stretchy and comfortable. You can dress it up or down with cute sandals or wedges.”

Pregnant & Confident

Pregnancy is a beautiful time, but it’s also a time when your body undergoes lots of changes and maintaining self-confidence is key. “I hope that this range inspires body positivity, with maternity clothes that create effortless style”, says Amina.

Nelia, who is in her third trimester, giggles as she says, “I’ve gained a lot of weight throughout my pregnancy. I’ve got swollen feet all the time. Leggings and shirt dresses have been my saviour!”

Easy, Breezy Pregnancy Summer Style

The Baby Centre UK medically explains, “during pregnancy, you also have an increased blood supply to your skin, which will make it warm to the touch. Plus, the energy it takes to move around with a bump can make you hot. It’s especially important to keep cool while you’re pregnant. Overheating can make you tired and dehydrated, as well as uncomfortable.”

Nelia nodded her head when we read this to her and said, “being pregnant in summer is not easy. The Cape Town heat is 35 degrees at times, and I can hardly sleep at night. In winter, I liked to layer and wear whatever I wanted, but summer isn’t as simple.”

She explains, “this is why I’d recommend the Daisy Kaftan for expecting moms. It is loose fitting and stylish. Depending on how I accessorise it, I wear it out shopping or to work.”

Choose Your Maternity Outfit

While Cape Town is as hot as an oven in summer, our weather is amongst the most unpredictable in the world. In mere seconds, it can seem like you’re in not-so-sunny Scotland. We think that this reason our Lily Easy Coat has been so popular. It’s a simple soft-to-the-touch, timeless linen piece that adds a stylish layer.
