As the autumn leaves change colours so do the physical, emotional and social aspects of a toddler…

Some interesting facts physically, your toddler may gain 4x their birth weight. They may also start running, jumping and improve their balance. Additionally their fine motor skills will come into play. If they are anything like Isla they will be picking up the fallen leaves with 2 fingers and putting it in their mouth…

To aide the leaves falling from the tree the windy season also embraces this period. Perhaps this is symbolic of the whirlwind of emotions that come with my now almost 17 month old. She wants to be near her parents and is a bit anxious around strangers (meaning she will have a full on ugly cry if anyone tries to take her from us or if we just suddenly leave). She also wants to be in control…of  everything…even things she has not mastered like eating and bathing…its a complete mess but she loves it!

Seeing I only have one child (soon 2 ?) I have no advice but console myself with the fact that after Autumn comes Winter, and seeing I am a glass half full kind of person, would like to think this is a period of rest and hibernation…or so I hope!
